Course overview
Lesson Overview

6.6 – Anxiety and the “Fight, Flight, Freeze” Response: When anxiety takes over, your body enters one of three automatic reactions—fight, flight, or freeze. The “fight” mode makes you tense or angry, ready to confront a threat. The “flight” mode pushes you to escape or avoid situations. The “freeze” mode can make you feel stuck or unable to move. These reactions were designed for real danger, not for arguments, tests, or work stress. But your brain doesn’t always know the difference. When these responses become constant, your body feels worn out. Recognizing which one you fall into helps you respond with calm instead of fear. Breathing slowly and grounding yourself can remind your brain that you are safe now. Once your body feels safe, your thoughts begin to follow.
