Lesson Overview

30.38 – Talking About Trauma Without Reliving It: Sharing your story can be healing when done safely and slowly. The goal is expression, not re-traumatization. You can use “containment” skills like pausing, breathing, or grounding before and after speaking. Choosing who to share with matters—safe listeners help you feel supported. It’s okay to use general terms or focus on feelings instead of details. Telling your story teaches your brain that the memory can exist without controlling you. Over time, the fear of speaking lessens. Talking becomes a bridge between isolation and connection. Each conversation handled with care strengthens your confidence. Healing words are powerful when spoken with self-respect.
