Course overview
Lesson Overview

30.3 – Acute, Chronic, and Complex Trauma: Acute trauma comes from a single shocking event like a car crash or attack. Chronic trauma happens from repeated hurt such as bullying or ongoing abuse. Complex trauma develops when a person faces many forms of pain, often starting in childhood. Each type affects how you think, feel, and cope. Acute trauma might leave sudden fear, while chronic trauma slowly changes your belief that the world is safe. Complex trauma can make relationships and emotions hard to navigate. These types overlap, but all share the feeling of being overwhelmed. Understanding which kind you’ve faced helps guide your recovery path. Healing involves safety, consistency, and rebuilding trust with yourself. With the right tools, your story can shift from survival to strength.
