Lesson Overview

30.17 – Trauma and Emotional Numbness: After deep hurt, the body sometimes turns off emotions to keep from feeling pain. This numbness can feel like emptiness, disconnection, or confusion about what you feel. It’s not a lack of caring—it’s your mind’s shield from overwhelm. Many survivors mistake it for weakness or indifference, but it’s actually self-protection. Slowly, safe experiences reawaken feelings without drowning in them. Art, music, and calm movement can help emotions thaw gently. As you relearn to feel, joy and sadness both start to make sense again. Numbness fades when safety replaces fear. What once felt cold inside becomes alive with balance and awareness.
