Lesson Overview

3.4 – Coping with the Loss of Safety and Stability: When life suddenly changes—through disaster, violence, or even a move—you can lose the sense that the world is safe. That loss shakes your foundation and makes ordinary moments feel uncertain. Fear may rise in places that once felt peaceful, and your body can stay tense even after danger passes. Coping begins with recognizing that your feelings are natural and protective. Safety must be rebuilt through routine, support, and trust. Small acts like locking your door, setting schedules, or sharing worries with someone kind can help restore control. Healing is not about pretending the threat never existed but learning that safety can grow again. It takes time for your mind and body to believe you’re okay. Each calm day you create is a small victory. Over time, stability becomes not what you lost, but what you learned to rebuild.
