Lesson Overview

6.16 – Recognizing the Cycle of Anticipatory Anxiety: Anticipatory anxiety happens when you fear something before it even begins. You might replay possible problems in your mind for days or weeks. The worry builds until the event feels unbearable. But often, the actual moment is never as bad as the fear leading up to it. Your brain tries to prepare you, but it ends up exhausting you instead. Recognizing this pattern helps you interrupt it early. Grounding yourself in the present breaks the loop of future worry. Each time you catch anxious predictions, you remind your brain that it’s guessing, not knowing. Over time, you’ll notice the future feels less scary when you stay focused on now.
