Lesson Overview

3.1 – Understanding the Many Forms of Loss: Loss is not only about death—it can be the end of a friendship, a move to a new city, or a change in health that takes away what once felt normal. It’s any experience where something meaningful is gone, leaving an empty space you have to learn to live with. Understanding this helps you realize that grief has many faces, and none of them are wrong. Some losses are visible and public, while others stay quiet in the heart. You may grieve the person you used to be, the job you loved, or the freedom you once had. Every form of loss deserves care and recognition. When you name it, you can start healing it. Accepting that loss comes in many shapes builds empathy for others, too. The more clearly you understand loss, the less alone you feel in facing it. Healing begins when you see that loss is part of being human—and that feeling its weight is a sign of love, not weakness.
