6.48 – How to Prevent Anxiety from Controlling Identity: Anxiety can make you believe it defines who you are, but it doesn’t. It’s something you experience, not something you are. When you start identifying as “an anxious person,” your brain reinforces that story. Shifting language to “I’m feeling anxious” keeps your identity separate from your emotion. Building hobbies, friendships, and goals outside of anxiety helps strengthen your true self. The more you invest in what brings joy, the less room anxiety has to control your story. Self-expression, laughter, and creativity remind you that you’re more than your fears. Confidence grows when you remember your anxiety is just one part of your journey—not the whole picture.
