Lesson Overview

30.5 – The Nervous System and Trauma Responses: Your nervous system is like your body’s alarm system, and trauma can make it stuck in alert mode. When danger hits, it speeds up your heart, tightens your muscles, and floods your body with energy. But after trauma, that system sometimes forgets how to turn off. You may feel jumpy, anxious, or drained even when nothing bad is happening. This happens because your body learned to expect danger everywhere. Healing starts with helping the nervous system find calm again. Slow breathing, grounding, and safe routines remind your body that it’s not trapped anymore. Understanding your physical signals gives you control back. With practice, the alarm system learns that peace is possible again.
