Lesson Overview

7.16 – Progressive Muscle Relaxation During Panic: Progressive muscle relaxation teaches your body to release tension step by step. You start by tightening a muscle group, holding briefly, then letting go. This sends your brain a message of safety as muscles loosen. During panic, your body tenses everywhere at once, so this method helps reverse that effect. Moving slowly through your body shifts focus away from fear and toward control. You can practice this sitting or lying down, even in public if done subtly. The act of noticing each muscle builds body awareness and calmness. With time, your muscles learn to relax automatically when panic begins. It’s a powerful way to remind your body that it can choose peace over fear.
