Lesson Overview

3.8 – Coping With Overwhelm in Public Spaces: Feeling overwhelmed in public is common, but you can manage it quietly and calmly. Start by noticing your senses—what you see, hear, or touch—to ground yourself. Slow your breathing and remind yourself that the moment will pass. You can step outside, find a quiet spot, or hold a comforting item. Focusing on something neutral, like counting steps or textures, helps shift your mind away from panic. Planning ahead also helps—bring earbuds, water, or a calming scent. The goal is not to avoid public spaces but to navigate them with tools. With practice, you’ll find that your confidence grows each time you recover calmly. Every moment managed is proof of progress.
