Lesson Overview

8.27 – Shame and Intimacy in Relationships: Intimacy requires vulnerability, but shame makes that feel dangerous. It tells you that if someone sees your flaws, they’ll turn away. This fear can lead to hiding parts of yourself or keeping emotional distance. Over time, it creates loneliness even in close relationships. Shame can make you doubt your worthiness for love or affection. But true intimacy thrives when both people can be real, imperfect, and honest. Trust builds when you allow yourself to be seen and still accepted. Healing begins when you replace fear with openness and self-acceptance. The more you practice being genuine, the more your relationships deepen. Love grows strongest when shame no longer sets the rules.
