6.3 – How Anxiety Shows Up in the Body: Anxiety isn’t just in your head—it affects your whole body. You might notice tight muscles, shaky hands, or a racing heartbeat. Your breathing may become short and shallow as your body prepares for danger that isn’t really there. You could feel dizzy, sweaty, or like your stomach is twisting into knots. These signals come from your nervous system doing its job to protect you. But when it happens too often, your body gets tired and tense. Learning to notice how anxiety shows up physically helps you manage it sooner. When you name the signs, your body starts to calm down. Paying attention to your breathing and muscle tension can guide you back to calm. The body often speaks before the mind realizes what’s wrong. Listening to it gives you a head start on feeling better.
