Lesson Overview

14.9 – Stress and Digestive Health: Your gut and brain talk to each other constantly, especially under stress. When you’re tense, your body redirects blood away from digestion and toward your muscles. This can cause stomach pain, nausea, or irregular digestion. Chronic stress can even change how your gut bacteria behave, affecting appetite and nutrient absorption. You might crave comfort foods or lose interest in eating altogether. Over time, this can lead to bloating, acid reflux, or fatigue. Managing stress supports not only mental calm but also digestive balance. Gentle meals, mindful eating, and slowing down during food time help your gut feel safe again. The goal is to eat with awareness rather than rush through meals. When your body feels relaxed, it digests better and gains more from the food you eat. Caring for your gut is another way of caring for your mind, because they’re connected in every way.
