Lesson Overview

1.07 – Social Anxiety in Crowded Halls and Cafeterias: Crowded spaces at school can feel like everyone’s eyes are on you, even when they’re not. Your heart pounds, your face warms, and your thoughts race to escape. This is social anxiety—your body’s false alarm system. It’s trying to protect you from embarrassment that isn’t real danger. You can calm it by grounding in your senses: feel your feet on the floor, name five things you see, breathe slowly. Over time, these moments become easier when you stop fighting the feeling and let it pass like a wave. Every small step—sitting in the cafeteria a few minutes longer, talking to one person—teaches your brain that you’re safe. The fear feels big, but you are bigger.
