15.49 – Letting Go of the “Perfect Forgiveness” Myth: The idea of perfect forgiveness can trap you in guilt, as if not forgiving completely makes you a failure. Real forgiveness isn’t an instant event—it’s a process that unfolds unevenly, layer by layer. You may forgive one day and feel anger the next, and that’s normal. True release doesn’t mean forgetting the pain; it means deciding not to let it define your identity anymore. “Perfect forgiveness” suggests closure, but most healing happens in motion, not in milestones. The goal is emotional freedom, not moral performance. Some wounds soften over years, not weeks. When you stop judging yourself for still hurting, forgiveness starts to breathe again. Compassion, not perfection, is what sets you free. Letting go of the myth allows space for grace—to forgive yourself for needing time, to forgive others without pressure, and to honor the slow, authentic unfolding of peace.
