Lesson Overview

25.06 – Why It Wasn’t Your Fault: Abuse and neglect can convince you that you caused them, especially when adults said things like “You made me mad” or “You deserved this.” But responsibility always lies with the person who chose to harm or ignore. You were reacting to survive, not inviting pain. Understanding that truth takes time because guilt can feel safer than powerlessness. Yet freedom grows when you place blame where it belongs. You were a child, or a person without control, trying to stay safe in unsafe circumstances. Healing means releasing false guilt and replacing it with compassion for your younger self. You didn’t fail anyone; someone failed you.
