30.28 – Coping With Shame After Hurting Yourself: Shame often feels heavier than the wound itself, whispering that you’re bad for what you’ve done. But shame lies — it feeds on silence and fear. You don’t need punishment; you need understanding. Every act of self-harm came from pain, not evil. Start separating the behavior from your identity: “I did something harmful” is different from “I am something harmful.” That shift matters. Talk to someone who won’t judge, or write about what led you there. Shame can’t survive in light. You deserve compassion, not condemnation. Healing from shame means forgiving the version of you that was trying to survive. You can hold regret and grace at the same time. Each moment you choose honesty over hiding, you reclaim a piece of your dignity — the same dignity that was never truly gone.
