Lesson Overview

4.05 – LGBTQ+ and Feeling Safe in School: Every student deserves to feel accepted, regardless of who they are or who they love. For LGBTQ+ youth, school can sometimes feel unsafe due to teasing or misunderstanding. Knowing your rights and finding allies helps you build support. Safe adults, like teachers or counselors, can advocate for you when needed. Joining inclusive groups or clubs can provide a sense of belonging. Expressing yourself authentically is an act of courage, not rebellion. You never have to shrink yourself to make others comfortable. Real friends and allies respect your identity without question. Education and empathy are the strongest tools against hate. Your identity is valid, and your safety matters every single day.
