Lesson Overview

22.19 – Healing From Internalized Oppression: Internalized oppression happens when negative messages from society begin to shape how you see yourself. You might doubt your worth, feel guilt about success, or unconsciously compare yourself to harmful standards. The first step toward healing is awareness—recognizing that these thoughts didn’t start with you. They were planted through media, history, or social systems designed to limit power. Replacing those beliefs takes time and self-compassion. Affirm your strengths, learn your history, and surround yourself with empowering influences. Healing is both personal and collective—it grows through community, storytelling, and action. The more you celebrate your identity, the less control old messages have. Freedom comes when you stop carrying shame that was never yours to bear and start defining yourself on your own terms.
