3.02 – How to Study When You’re Mentally Drained: Studying while exhausted can feel like staring at a wall—nothing sticks. Mental fatigue makes your focus slip and your motivation vanish. The trick isn’t to push harder but to study smarter. Start by shortening sessions and giving your brain breaks. Movement, snacks, and deep breaths wake up tired attention. Sometimes switching subjects resets your focus better than forcing one topic. Choose simpler tasks first to rebuild momentum. Make your study spot calm and free from distractions. Re-reading notes out loud or teaching them to yourself refreshes memory better than silent review. Small wins matter—finish one section, reward yourself, then continue. Sleep also acts like study fuel; without it, your brain can’t store what you learned. When drained, aim for steady effort instead of perfection. Working gently but consistently beats late-night cramming.
