26.08 – When People Misgender You on Purpose: Being misgendered intentionally can feel like someone erasing a piece of your identity, and it’s natural to feel hurt or angry. Some people act out of cruelty or ignorance, testing your patience and boundaries. You can’t control their behavior, but you can control how you protect your peace. Set firm boundaries and walk away when necessary; not every battle is worth emotional exhaustion. Surround yourself with allies who affirm you, because affirmation refuels strength. Document serious harassment if it happens at school or work—your safety matters. Each time you assert your truth calmly, you reclaim power. Remember that others’ refusal to learn does not undo your existence. You are still exactly who you say you are, no matter how many times someone refuses to respect it. Confidence in your identity becomes its own armor against disrespect and misunderstanding.
