Lesson Overview

2.35 – Preparing for a Crisis Before It Happens: Preparation turns fear into readiness. Build a written safety plan listing warning signs, coping steps, and contact numbers. Keep a comfort box with grounding tools, photos, and reminders of hope. Inform a few trusted people about your triggers and what helps. Practice breathing exercises when calm so they work better in panic. Identify safe spaces at school and home. Decide ahead who to call first if urges rise. Keep emergency lines saved on speed dial. Remove or secure anything that could be used for harm. Preparing doesn’t invite crisis—it reduces its danger. Rehearse your plan mentally like a fire drill. The more you practice, the more automatic safe responses become. Preparation is a form of self-respect and foresight. When crisis comes, you’ll act from strength, not fear.
