28.17 – How to Accept Compliments Without Shrinking: Accepting compliments gracefully can feel awkward, especially if you’ve learned to downplay your strengths. Many people deflect praise because they fear arrogance, but humility doesn’t mean denying truth. When someone acknowledges your effort or kindness, they’re sharing appreciation—not inflating your ego. Saying “thank you” honors both your work and their intention. Over time, accepting praise teaches your brain to believe positive feedback as easily as criticism. It builds self-trust and quiet confidence. Shrinking yourself to appear humble only teaches others to overlook you. True humility means knowing your worth and still staying grounded. Practice holding eye contact, smiling, and letting compliments land. The more you allow kindness in, the easier it becomes to see yourself as others already do—with respect and admiration.
