6.43 – Getting Support Without Betraying Your Family: Asking for help can feel like turning on those you love, especially when privacy is prized. Understand that protecting yourself doesn’t equal betrayal. You’re allowed to talk about your struggles without exposing every detail. Trusted adults can help you while still respecting confidentiality. Focus on your needs, not assigning blame. Explain that you want guidance, not punishment for your family. Framing your story around safety and mental well-being builds understanding. Support systems exist to help, not to destroy families. Over time, speaking up might even encourage healing at home. You can love your family and still seek outside care. True loyalty includes caring enough to get better, not just to stay silent.
