Lesson Overview

8.21 – Secondary Loss: Losing the People Who Were There for You: After a major loss, you might notice friends or relatives drifting away. Sometimes it’s because they don’t know what to say, or your sadness reminds them of their own fears. Losing support after loss adds another layer of pain called secondary loss. It can feel like being abandoned all over again. Remember that people’s distance usually comes from discomfort, not malice. You can’t control who stays, but you can choose who you open up to. Seek new connections with those who can handle deep emotions without judgment. The ones who remain through your hardest days will become your new circle of strength. Grief changes relationships, but it also reveals who is meant to walk beside you in truth. Let the loss of others guide you toward authentic companionship that honors your healing journey.
