Lesson Overview

4.10 – How to Be a Supportive Friend Without Taking on Their Pain: Supporting someone in pain can be meaningful but emotionally draining if you take on too much. Listening without trying to fix everything is powerful. Offer comfort while reminding yourself their feelings are not your responsibility to solve. Setting emotional boundaries protects both people. Encourage your friend to seek additional support when needed. Taking breaks doesn’t make you a bad friend—it keeps you balanced. Compassion works best when it’s sustainable. You can care deeply without losing yourself. The healthiest friendships share empathy while respecting limits. Helping others starts with learning how to protect your own peace too.
