16.05 – Using Music to Regulate Mood: Music is one of the most powerful emotional regulators available to you every day. The rhythm, melody, and lyrics can shape how your brain and body respond to stress or sadness. When you feel anxious, slow music can steady your heartbeat; when you’re low on energy, upbeat songs can lift your mood. The key is choosing music intentionally based on what you need rather than letting random playlists decide your feelings. You can use headphones to block out distractions, focus on lyrics that match your emotions, or even play an instrument to express what words can’t. Music connects your emotional brain with physical calm, helping you reset your system gently. Over time, you’ll learn to use playlists as emotional medicine—knowing which sounds comfort you, motivate you, or help release frustration. Music doesn’t judge your mood; it meets you where you are and helps guide you back to balance.
