Lesson Overview

7.38 – When You’re Labeled by a Diagnosis: Receiving a mental-health or medical diagnosis can feel both clarifying and limiting. On one hand, it gives language to your experiences; on the other, it risks becoming your entire identity. You are not your condition—you are a person living with it. Labels like anxiety, ADHD, or depression should serve as maps for care, not cages. Education helps you understand symptoms without shame. The goal is management and growth, not perfection. Share your diagnosis with people who respect it, not those who weaponize it. Surrounding yourself with understanding communities can turn isolation into belonging. Healing means learning balance between acceptance and hope. Your diagnosis explains part of you; it never defines all of you.
