15.20 – Coping With Being Judged by a Faith Community: Being judged by people who claim to represent love can feel crushing. You may feel isolated, misunderstood, or ashamed for not fitting expectations. But judgment says more about the judge than the one being judged. No community has the right to define your worth. Coping begins with separating their opinions from your identity. Surround yourself with people who live by compassion instead of control. Replace harsh voices with supportive ones that remind you of your value. Reflection, journaling, or counseling can help rebuild self-esteem. Remember, spirituality is personal—it’s between you and your sense of purpose, not between you and those who condemn. Judgment loses power when you refuse to internalize it. By choosing grace over defensiveness, you rise above pettiness and reclaim your right to belong in peace and dignity.
