8.17 – When the Funeral Doesn’t Help: Funerals are meant to bring closure, but sometimes they don’t. You might feel disconnected, frustrated, or even more lost afterward. People expect that ceremony equals healing, but grief rarely follows that script. Maybe the service didn’t reflect who they really were, or you felt invisible in your sadness. That doesn’t mean you’re grieving wrong. Healing is deeply personal, and no ritual can do all the work. Create your own moment of remembrance—write a letter, visit a place they loved, or light a candle privately. Your relationship with them continues beyond the funeral; it exists in how you remember and live differently because of them. It’s okay if the event didn’t bring peace. Sometimes closure doesn’t come from ceremony but from quiet moments later, when you finally allow your heart to feel without expectation.
