Lesson Overview

6.14 – When Adults Blame You for Everything: Being blamed for things you didn’t cause can distort how you see yourself. Over time, false guilt makes you believe you deserve the pain. Recognizing blame patterns helps you see what’s projection, not truth. Keep track of facts to protect your sense of reality. Responding calmly with boundaries—like “I understand you’re upset, but that wasn’t me”—shows maturity. Avoid over-explaining; endless defense only fuels accusers. Remind yourself that responsibility belongs where actions began. Talk to mentors who can confirm your reality when gaslighting occurs. Self-talk is powerful: repeat truths about your worth daily. Learning to separate identity from accusation protects your self-esteem. Growth means refusing to carry emotional debt that isn’t yours to pay.
