Lesson Overview

25.23 – Why You May Struggle With Affection or Attention: When love once came with pain or strings attached, comfort can feel suspicious. Compliments might make you tense, and hugs might feel unsafe. That’s not rejection—it’s conditioning. Your body learned that affection was followed by danger or guilt. Healing requires retraining those associations gently. Start with self-soothing: wrapping yourself in a blanket, practicing mindfulness, or petting an animal. Safe touch and genuine care will slowly rewrite those messages. You deserve tenderness that expects nothing in return. Learning to receive kindness without flinching takes time, but each moment of warmth accepted proves that gentleness doesn’t have to hurt.
