Lesson Overview

11.02 – Social Media Addiction and Self-Control: Technology is designed to keep your attention, and social platforms are built with features that reward you for staying online. Each notification or scroll gives your brain a tiny hit of dopamine that feels good in the moment but leaves you wanting more. Over time, this loop becomes habit-forming and makes it hard to stop. Breaking the cycle starts with noticing your triggers—boredom, stress, or loneliness—and choosing a different action instead. Setting small boundaries like device-free meals or time limits helps you regain balance. It’s not about quitting completely but using social media on your terms. Self-control is like a muscle; it grows stronger the more you use it intentionally. By practicing restraint, you teach your brain that peace matters more than constant stimulation. Freedom begins when you choose presence over endless scrolling.
