17.11 – Knowing Where to Go When You Need a Break: Every school has spaces—libraries, nurse’s offices, counseling rooms—where quiet is possible if you know where to look. Having a mental “map” of calm areas gives you options before panic takes over. Talk to staff to confirm where you’re allowed to step out safely. Carry a hall pass that signals you’re taking a regulated break, not skipping class. Use your break to reset your body: deep breaths, stretching, hydration, or journaling. Avoid turning the space into a hiding spot—see it as a recovery station. The goal is to return stronger, not to escape forever. Knowing your exits before you need them prevents crisis reactions. Preparedness is not weakness—it’s wise emotional planning.
