19.29 – Making a Mask: What You Show vs. What You Hide: Designing a mask to represent what you show versus what you hide helps you visualize emotional contrast. On the outside, you might paint smiles, colors, or symbols that represent what the world sees. On the inside, darker shades or hidden patterns can reflect what’s private or unspoken. This creative act exposes the gap between appearance and authenticity. As you build and decorate, you begin to realize how much energy goes into performing emotional control. The project encourages self-awareness without shame, allowing you to reclaim the parts you’ve kept concealed. It teaches that everyone wears masks at times but true strength comes from knowing what lies beneath. Once complete, the mask stands as both artwork and reflection—a dialogue between surface and depth. It’s not about removing the mask completely; it’s about learning to wear it consciously and with integrity.
