30.43 – How to Feel Safe in Your Body Again: After trauma or self-harm, your body can feel like an unsafe place. Reconnecting takes slow, gentle practice. Start with breathing awareness — feel air move through you without judgment. Add sensations that comfort: warm showers, soft clothing, or stretching. The goal isn’t to love your body overnight; it’s to learn neutrality before affection. Treat your body as a teammate that tried to protect you the only way it knew how. Thank it for surviving, even when it feels foreign. Safety grows through repetition — gentle touches, mindful movement, calm rest. Over time, familiarity replaces fear. Feeling safe again isn’t about forgetting the past; it’s about teaching your body that peace is possible within it once more.
