Lesson Overview

4.07 – Dating Violence and Emotional Abuse: Relationships that start with affection can sometimes turn controlling or abusive. Emotional abuse can be as damaging as physical harm. Signs include jealousy, isolation, manipulation, and fear of upsetting your partner. Love should never make you feel small or unsafe. You have the right to end any relationship that hurts you. Support is available through counselors, hotlines, and trusted adults. Healing begins when you stop blaming yourself for someone else’s actions. It’s okay to rebuild slowly after leaving a harmful situation. Real love respects boundaries, time, and freedom. Knowing the signs protects you and those you care about from repeating cycles of harm.
