Lesson Overview

6.33 – When You’re Raised by Grandparents or Relatives: Being raised by relatives can feel both comforting and complicated. You may feel gratitude mixed with confusion or resentment. Rules may differ from what friends experience, and that can create frustration. Understanding that your caregivers stepped up out of love can ease tension. Still, it’s okay to wish things were different. Talking openly about expectations prevents miscommunication. Respecting their sacrifices while expressing your needs builds healthier connection. Try to create shared traditions that belong to your unique household. You’re not “less than” because your family looks different; you’re part of a lineage that adapts. Over time, you’ll see that love isn’t defined by titles—it’s shown through consistency and care. Accepting both the good and the hard parts helps everyone grow closer.
