Lesson Overview

1.22 – Emotional Triggers From Past Experiences: The past doesn’t always stay buried—it echoes. Certain sounds, smells, or words can bring back feelings from years ago. That’s what emotional triggers are—uninvited reminders of pain. Your brain links the present to old memories as a way to stay safe, but it can feel overwhelming. When triggered, ground yourself: name what’s happening, breathe, and remind yourself that you’re in the present, not the past. Understanding your triggers helps separate memory from reality. Healing doesn’t mean erasing the past; it means breaking its control over today. Each time you stay calm through a trigger, you reclaim a little more freedom.
