Lesson Overview

15.04 – When Religion Hurts More Than It Helps: Religion can offer comfort, purpose, and belonging, but it can also wound when used to shame or control. If your experience with faith has left you anxious or judged, that pain is real and deserves acknowledgment. No belief system should make you feel small, unworthy, or silenced. Healing begins when you separate spiritual truth from human misuse of it. You are allowed to question authority, seek better interpretations, or even step back entirely to protect your well-being. Spiritual health thrives on love, not fear, and any teaching that causes lasting guilt or self-rejection may need re-examining. Rebuilding your connection with spirituality can mean redefining what holiness means to you. Peace comes when your faith uplifts instead of confines you, reminding you that grace, compassion, and understanding were always meant to heal—not to harm.
