6.03 – When You’re the Adult in the House: Sometimes young people take on adult roles when parents can’t or won’t. You might handle bills, care for siblings, or manage moods that aren’t yours to fix. Carrying adult weight too early can make you grow up fast but also leave you emotionally tired. It’s important to realize that responsibility doesn’t mean you must sacrifice your own growth. Finding balance means setting limits on what you can do and allowing others to share the load. Asking for help from teachers, relatives, or counselors isn’t weakness—it’s survival. Learning time management and simple self-care can help keep burnout away. Guilt often whispers that you can’t rest, but rest actually makes you more reliable. Remember, you are not your parent’s parent. You deserve moments of laughter, learning, and teenage life. Taking back small pieces of childhood is part of healing from being the “adult too soon.”
