23.02 – How to Speak Up When You’re Nervous: Finding your voice when anxiety rises takes practice and gentle self-coaching. Nervousness doesn’t mean weakness—it means you care about the outcome. The key is slowing your breathing and reminding yourself that your words have value. You can prepare a few sentences ahead of time or write notes to organize your thoughts before speaking. Focus on facts and feelings instead of fears about judgment. Start with small moments, like asking a question in class, then build toward larger conversations. Confidence grows with repetition, not perfection. People often respect honesty about nerves more than forced confidence, so being real makes you relatable. When you challenge fear by speaking anyway, you retrain your brain to see communication as strength, not danger. Each time you speak up, your courage expands, and soon your nerves turn into natural energy that helps your message land clearly.
