2.29 – How to Get Through the Next 5 Minutes: When pain feels unbearable, thinking about the future is impossible—focus on five minutes only. Start by breathing slow and steady; count each inhale like steps. Name five objects near you to anchor reality. Drink water or chew something crunchy to re-engage your senses. If sitting, press your palms into your thighs until you feel grounded. Tell yourself, “I can survive five minutes; that’s all I need.” Use music or video as a distraction until the clock moves. After five minutes, set another small goal: stand, stretch, or message a friend. Break time into pieces so it cannot drown you. Sometimes survival happens one breath, one moment at a time. The urge may shrink just enough to choose safety again. Each successful five minutes rewires your brain toward resilience. Remember, this storm always fades eventually. Surviving short bursts builds strength for longer peace. You are proving endurance with every tick of the clock.
