22.20 – What It Means to Be an Ally to Other Cultures: Being an ally means more than agreeing that injustice is wrong—it means taking action to support fairness even when it doesn’t directly affect you. True allyship begins with listening, not leading. It’s about learning other people’s experiences without making them prove their pain. You use your voice to amplify theirs, not to speak over them. Being an ally can be uncomfortable at times, but discomfort is part of growth. You’ll make mistakes; own them and keep learning. Support comes through small, consistent choices—challenging bias, promoting inclusion, and standing beside those who face discrimination. Real allies understand that equality benefits everyone. When you show up with sincerity, humility, and courage, you help create a culture where every voice matters equally.
