Lesson Overview

23.15 – What It Means to Hold People Accountable: Accountability is about fairness, not revenge. It means expecting others to take responsibility for their actions the same way you do for yours. When someone breaks trust, address it calmly, using facts and “I” statements. Let them know how their behavior affected you and what needs to change moving forward. Accountability works best when paired with empathy—recognizing human error without excusing harm. Holding others accountable shows you respect yourself and value honesty in relationships. It teaches people that consequences protect boundaries, not punish them. You can forgive without forgetting lessons learned. True accountability rebuilds trust on solid ground, proving that strength and compassion can exist side by side.
