16.28 – Coping Skills for When You're in Class: Managing emotions in class can be difficult when you can’t leave or express them freely. Quiet coping skills help you calm your body without drawing attention. Try deep breathing through your nose, counting to five as you exhale. Keep a small object like a smooth stone or bracelet to touch when you need grounding. Focus your eyes on something steady in the room while imagining a peaceful scene. Writing a short note to yourself or doodling can also redirect nervous energy. The goal is to stay engaged without letting emotions hijack your focus. If the feeling becomes too strong, excuse yourself briefly to reset. Practicing these tools teaches you emotional independence—you don’t need to wait for the right place or person to regulate. Over time, these quiet methods become invisible strengths, helping you stay centered even in stressful or crowded environments.
