Lesson Overview

6.34 – Boundaries With Family That Constantly Cross Lines: When family members invade your privacy, insult your choices, or guilt you into obedience, boundaries are essential. Start by identifying what behaviors drain you most. Communicate limits calmly and consistently, even if they resist. Use “I need” statements instead of accusations to reduce defensiveness. Remember that setting boundaries doesn’t make you selfish—it makes you healthy. Practice saying no without apology; it’s a full sentence. If boundaries are ignored, create consequences like limiting time or conversation topics. You can still love people from a distance that protects your peace. Over time, clear boundaries teach others how to treat you respectfully. Standing firm might feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s the foundation of self-respect. True connection can only exist where limits are honored.
