Lesson Overview

29.13 – When Anger Is Covering Up Fear or Shame: Sometimes anger is only a mask hiding the feelings you don’t want anyone to see—like fear, guilt, or shame. Those emotions can make you feel exposed or powerless, so anger steps in to create a sense of control. It’s easier to look tough than vulnerable, but that toughness can keep people from understanding your pain. When you notice anger showing up too quickly, ask yourself what it might be protecting. Is there something underneath that feels too heavy to name? Identifying what’s underneath allows you to express the real feeling instead of the shield. When you start addressing the fear or embarrassment directly, anger doesn’t have to fight so hard. This self-awareness helps rebuild trust within yourself and with others. Real courage isn’t hiding behind anger—it’s facing what lies beneath it with honesty.
