Lesson Overview

1.19 – Learning to Identify What You’re Avoiding: Avoidance often hides behind busyness, scrolling, or jokes. It’s what happens when you know something hurts, but you keep running from it. The problem is that avoidance grows the very thing you’re afraid of. Facing what you avoid starts with curiosity, not punishment. Ask yourself: “What am I scared to think about?” or “What would happen if I stopped distracting myself?” Naming the avoided issue brings it out of the dark where healing can begin. You don’t have to confront everything at once—start with the smallest truth. Avoidance feels safe short-term but steals peace long-term. Courage isn’t about never being afraid; it’s about gently turning toward what you fear.
